UP-OCC is an innovative process for producing silver and copper wire, developed and patented by Professor Ohno from the Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan. This unique technique has been widely used in the audio industry to manufacture cable products.
Ohno Continuous Casting (OCC) involves using heated moulds to draw out a single crystal up to 125 meters in length, a procedure that almost eliminates grain boundaries and other impurities from the copper or silver. Thus, OCC copper and silver offer a superior single-long crystal structure and negligible oxides or other contaminants. In comparison, OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) consists of many grain boundaries and impurities and has approximately 400 crystals per foot.
UP-OCC has many benefits, including a non-corroding, pure, unidirectional single crystal, flexibility and fatigue resistance, low electrical resistance, rapid signal transmission, no crystal boundaries, and far superior performance.
The continuous casting of single-crystal production has existed since the '80s. Since then, many refinements have been made to perfect the casting process to improve purity and efficiency, yet, to this day, most factories still use old techniques and outdated machinery to produce OCC wire, resulting in an inferior quality and lower-purity OCC wire, which is the most commonly used OCC wire by cable companies based in China and cheap custom-cables typically sold on AliExpress, eBay, and Etsy.
How does Arctic deliver the most cutting-edge and highest-purity OCC silver and copper on the market?
We produce our OCC wire in very small batches to preserve its purity in a state-of-the-art factory capable of casting small-diameter copper and silver rods much more efficiently, resulting in an extremely high-purity wire at a bearable cost.
Each of our OCC wires is uniquely designed to our exact specifications. Our custom 'ultraflex' TPU insulation is flexible, soft, and crystal clear. Each wire strand is shielded by enamel coating, eliminating the risk of oxidation and corrosion and ensuring longevity.
Our latest custom type-4 and type-6 Litz O.C.C. wire utilizes a complex 7-group design; each group contains a specific count of ultra-fine enameled strands with an infused mix of kevlar and fine Japanese cotton central core.
Are OCC copper and silver cables sold by other companies for thousands of dollars higher quality or offer better performance?
Not in the slightest. Arctic produces the purest copper and silver OCC Litz wires on the market, which utilize some of the most complex Litz designs and deliver top-notch performance, comfort, and aesthetics.
How do we deliver the finest quality products while keeping prices significantly lower?
1. By prioritizing exceptional customer service and high-quality products over excessive marketing and advertising expenses.
2. Using a DTC (direct-to-customer) business model instead of a distribution network, which requires the manufacturer to increase its product prices by up to 50% in order to provide dealer prices and cover the high logistics costs.
